Official Long Synopsis
Red Ratio Entertainment, LLC presents “LAKE RUNS RED,” the debut feature film from independent horror filmmaker Jason Riesgraf.
Examining the themes of rejection and choices, ”Lake Runs Red” triumphantly presents a new brand of horror entertainment, uniquely blending the disparate genres of psychological thriller with slasher and home-invasion horror into one contemporary package. “Lake Runs Red” explores the boundaries of experimental independent filmmaking with risk taking editing and a unique storytelling platform.
Two college seniors, Lauren (Kaci Wegleitner) and Melissa (Lauren Morris), are on the verge of final exams prior to graduation. The girls decide to embark on a last minute road trip to Lauren’s parents’ secluded northern Minnesota lake cabin to get away from the non-stop party culture of their college campus. While there, Lauren reignites her uncomfortably close relationship with her father Paul (Michael Hertenstein) and finds herself at odds with her emotionally distant mother Gwen (Helene Donohue). Meanwhile, Melissa is presented with intense circumstances which challenge her resolve and sense of self.
Along the way, Lauren and Melissa are followed by a deeply disturbed and mercurial stranger named Bruce (CJ DeVaan), who mysteriously shows up at Paul and Gwen’s isolated lake home, uninvited. Bruce carries unsavory and disgusting information that he violently forces upon the family with sadistic authority.
Directed by Jason Riesgraf, written by Jason Riesgraf & J. Dan Moores, and produced by Jason Riesgraf, Jeff Fuller, J. Dan Moores, and Stephanie Riesgraf. “Lake Runs Red” stars Kaci Wegleitner, Lauren Morris, and Michael Hertenstein.
